Treatment
Active FX Laser skin tightening is a safe, procedure that requires one 20-minute treatment.

A topical numbing cream is applied to the face to reduce discomfort 15 to 20 minutes prior to the treatment.  The UltraPulse Encore Laser which is a fractional CO2 Aesthetic Laser system,  is used.  It creates a beam of high intensity light that penetrates deeply in a fractionalized pattern, heating certain areas of the tissue and contracting the skin.  The laser beam only impacts the targeted skin which speeds recovery time.

Each pulse of laser energy feels like the quick snap of a rubber band or burst from a fine pointed air gun against your skin.  The area around the forehead and upper lip are sometimes extra sensitive.  The laser, which is also used for hair removal, will sometimes singe and remove facial hair during the treatment.  A chiller device is used to simultaneously cool the skin as the laser is applied.

Recovery
This non-invasive procedure requires 3-5 days of downtime. The skin may be mildly swollen and have a pink color for a few days after treatment.   

Some patients experience slight changes in pigmentation which resolve within several days.  A cortisone cream can be applied to help minimize any temporary skin discoloration. Side effects are uncommon but may include dark or light spots that usually resolve in a few days.
