Histopathology Lab Services
Histopathology is the study of the microscopic anatomy of cells and tissues.
Histopathology lab services at Advanced Skincare are handled in-house in our state-of-the-art histopathology laboratory. For our patients, this means faster, more accurate and more secure results for the proper identification and diagnosis of a skin condition or disease. Our histopathology lab specializes in processing skin biopsies with high quality stained slides which are then read by our board certified dermatopathologist who examines the tissue and works closely with our medical team on a definitive diagnosis and treatment plan.
Our histopathology lab is a CLIA licensed and regulated facility providing prompt turn-around times with a full array of immunohistochemical stains, immunofluorescence and a full host of special stains.
Under the leadership of our Histology Lab Manager, our lab is staffed with Board Certified Professionals (ASCP) that bring over 35 years of histology and dermatopathology laboratory experience.
Our in-house Histopathology laboratory is part of the Advanced Experience in providing our patients the most comprehensive skin care treatment center in Southern California.
What is a Dermatopathologist?
Dermatopathologists are physicians who after completing their training in either dermatology or pathology pursued additional training in accredited programs for the interpretation of skin biopsies. These physicians integrate the clinical information with microscopic observations of the biopsy from the patient to provide diagnostic information to the treating physician. Dermatopathology is a consultative service to the referring dermatologist and not simply a laboratory test. The accurate microscopic interpretation of the biopsy is important in the selection of appropriate therapies.
